Boxcar Fair named Atlanta’s #1 Music Video of 2011
Just a quick update – I shot a new music video for Little Tybee last month called Boxcar Fair, which was recently named “Best music video of 2011” by several sources in their annual Atlanta music scene wrap-up, including OhmPark and LatestDisgrace. That is saying a lot considering the volume of music videos shot in this town. It also is getting shout-outs from the likes of YouTube’s official blog
Lead singer Brock Scott teamed up with Atlanta-based artist Tom Haney over 6 months to hand-build and direct this magical, 45-foot-long masterpiece of set design and automata (puppets, if you must).
Some of the best puppeteers in the business and a crew of Atlanta creatives joined in for a one-of-a-kind performance which we recorded as a single-take music video, then later presented it live to audiences at The Goat Farm, with the band playing live. I hope some of you got to attend that live show. It was truly magical and I was glad to have played a small part.
I shot this on a Panasonic AF100 and Cooke 18-100mm t.3 cinema lens. Dolly grip was Brett May and Brock Scott doubled as focus grip. Photo below by Rich Addicks, who generously donated his time to take behind-the-scenes stills. Westcott generously provided most of the overall camera lighting.
